When I first set this goal for myself I thought it was going to be easy and something that wouldn't really bother me that much. YEAH RIGHT!!! I am learning it is much harder than I thought. I didn't realize how much smoking effects my every day life. I know there are 100's of ads out there that talk about how smoking is unhealthy and takes years off of my life and I'm sure it does. I have always had a mind set of "well I'm going to die eventually, so why not make the best of it."
It's an inevitable fact that we are all going to die someday and while making the best of the time we have here is important we must also remember that every decision we make today has the potential to effect the future of our lives and how we leave this place.
All of us have battles we face everyday in our lives and it's learning to face and fight those battles that isn't always the easy part. I have learned in my battle to stop smoking that I must remember to turn and ask for help when I know I need it. Asking for help isn't always easy but unfortunately, as much as we would love to, we can't always do everything on our own. Learning to stop and ask for help is almost as hard as remembering my daily routine without cigarettes as part of it.
I have been amazed by the amount of people who have been willing to send me words of encouragement and wisdom. I am thankful to know that the people I have in my life are willing to stand behind me to see this goal become a reality for me. I know that with prayer, patients(which I don't always have a whole lot of) and determination I will win this battle that to some seems so small.
"Commit to the LORD whatever you do,and your plans will succeed" Proverbs 16:3
What is life are you battling right now? Do you have the courage to ask for help?

Trying again to post a comment...hope this time it works!
ReplyDeleteAsking help stinks, especially for tough-smack-talkin' gals like us...but that's where we see God's comfort and love most powerfully.
You're an inspiration Amber and I'm SO proud of you! LOVE YOU!
So, how's it going? Have you been able to stop? I sure hope so. Seeing young people smoke breaks my heart.
ReplyDeletehey michael..thank you for stopping by to join me on my journey. I have made great strides to quit smoking and I am doing good. I can not yet call myself a complete non smoker but I am almost there!!! I have gone from more than half a pack a day to 2~3 cigs a day. I am working very hard and am very determined to stop.
